Our BOK swimmers excel at City of Hull Special Olympics
Swimming for Borough Of Kirklees, Huddersfield Down Syndrome Support Group sent a twelve strong squad to the Special Olympics held in Hull on Saturday 3rd March.
16 squads competed including a team from the Netherlands. Each of our swimmers competed in 2 races with 8 of them also racing in relays. Every squad member excelled themselves and did their team proud bringing home personal bests, ‘speeding tickets’, 5 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze individual medals plus gold and bronze in the team relays!
Special mentions go to Kai Watson making his competition debut with an impressive 1st place and personal best in the 25m freestyle, and to Rebekah Hill, who with the girls relay team, brought home a well deserved bronze after a thrilling finish. Jack Drennen came home with a medal of every colour and Aisling Connelly (pictured above) bagged a gold in the 50m freestyle.
Our thanks as always to BOK team coaches Gemma and Ed, with fabulous poolside support from Robert, Christine and Keith.
Massive congratulations to all our swimmers and keep up the hard work!
